Designer Milk - The Best of the Best

Updated: Oct 25, 2023

We have all heard "desperate times call for desperate measures." I strongly advise you to be highly mindful because those measures can be hazardous. This is the case with creating homemade infant formula in response to the shortage. The ironic thing is… it doesn't have to be an issue.

Your breastmilk is DESIGNER MILK created uniquely for your baby. It is better than infant formula. Unless you were diagnosed with a contraindicated condition for breastfeeding, it is the best option for your baby. The only two contraindications to breastfeeding in the United States are an HIV (+) mother or an infant that has been diagnosed with galactosemia. In addition to the nutrients, breast milk contains antibodies from the mom that helps jumpstart the baby's immune system and fight infection. The makeup of your breastmilk changes to your baby's needs. For example, the breastmilk for a preterm baby is higher in protein and minerals.

Breast milk is much easier for your baby to digest. Research shows that it decreases the risk of ear infections, respiratory tract infections, diarrhea, asthma, diabetes, childhood obesity, and SIDs (sudden infant death). Breast milk also has benefits for the mother. It decreases the risk of excessive bleeding, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and breast, ovarian, endometrial, and thyroid cancers.

Breastfeeding is still not as welcomed as it should be, but you have a right to feed your baby or pump as often as demanded. In some families, it's frowned upon. I can hear some of my patients say, "I have to go to work," "My baby will not be with me all the time," "It hurts," "It's weird," "My mom said to bottle feed." I've heard multiple different reasons. My reply is PUMP! Usually, you will have some time before you go back to work. Two weeks of exclusively breastfeeding or pumping will help the immune system tremendously. Just consider it. I agree that the formula works, it gets the job done when it's available. However, I think the current infant formula shortage is a light bulb flickering. I worked with a doctor that used to tell the patients, "The Lord didn't put those things up there for headlights; they are to feed your baby"... LOL, Dr. Stephen Coleman

Ultimately, breastmilk is customized for the baby by MOM; it’s FREE, CONVENIENT, and UNDER-RATED.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2022, 72.9% of mothers with children are in the workforce. Over 50% of women return to work after their maternity leave. Breast pumping is considered breast feeding.

Technology is AMAZING. Breast pumping has come a long way in the last few years. The wireless breast pumps makes the process very discreet. Often times, no one could tell your pumping. Breast pumps are HSA/FSA eligible.
